Phil Smith – Sales & Marketing Manager
Phil joined NID in 1980 as a design engineer. Most of his career at NID has been spent managing the engineering design office. Recently Phil has taken on the role of sales and marketing manager. This role is perfect for Phil as he is able to blend his design engineering skills and experience with his commitment and focus on delivering outstanding service to NID’s customers.
When he’s not selling NID moguls around the world Phil likes nothing better than having a Fosters on his deck at home.
Miles Balen – Sales & Depositing Equipment
Miles joined NID in 1988 as a design engineer in the pump engineering department. He now manages the pump design and new product development division of the company. With the added responsibility for sales of depositing equipment Miles uses his technical expertise coupled with expansive knowledge of specific customer needs to deliver innovative solutions for new and existing NID mogul users. When he’s not designing or selling NID depositing equipment, Miles enjoys the great outdoors or spending time with his wife dining out.
Herbert Weikl – Mechanical Service Engineer
Herbert joined NID in 1960 after migrating from Germany to Sydney. For over 10 years Herbert was a Leading Hand in the Sydney workshop. He is a qualified fitter-welder. He returned to his native Germany in 1971 and has since been employed as Technical Engineer, and represents NID in Sales, Agent-and-Customer support. When Herbert isn’t busy working for NID he likes to relax by walking in the forest.
Maria Mendez – Latin American Sales Manager
Maria joined NID in 1980 and has been instrumental in developing the Latin American market for NID. Having travelled extensively over the years, Maria returned to her home country of Chile at the end of 1999. Maria continues to oversee sales and looks after NID customers needs in Latin America. Maria’s leisure time is spent with family and friends enjoying time at the beach or at the mountains during the winter months.
Tom Mactier – Automation Engineer
As an Automation Engineer Tom has spent several years developing and implementing automation for the mogul. This has involved programming, testing, and commissioning at customer’s plants. Since early 2010 Tom’s role expanded to include overseeing the electrical build, in addition to overseeing the execution of the automation platform (Servo Drives, PLC, HMI, etc). When he’s not working with moguls Tom enjoys spending time with his young family.
Bill Mays – Product Development Manager
Bill joined NID in June last year as head of the R&D division and brings with him many years experience working within the food processing & equipment industry. Before commencing with NID, Bill worked for 12 years as a Projects Design Manager for another Sydney-based OEM specializing in bakery equipment, and before that as a Section Manager and later Project Manager with Kraft Foods in the UK. Bill loves nothing more than winding down at weekends in the company of his wife and 4 young children.
Peter Hunt – CEO
Peter Hunt joined NID as Chief Executive Officer in May 2010. He has a long history of corporate management spanning 30 years. Peter is focussed on rejuvenating the NID brand and ensuring that all NID customers are being delivered high quality machinery coupled with outstanding service. Peter is constantly inspired by the team at NID whose depth of knowledge and experience is unmatched anywhere he’s worked before. When Peter isn’t driving the future direction of NID he likes to spend time with his wife and 3 teenage daughters.
Esther Faerber – Chairman
Daughter of NID’s founder Hans Faerber, Esther Faerber has been involved in the business her whole life and over the last five years has taken a more strategic role in the business. Esther & Hans (who is now 95) speak on a daily basis at breakfast to discuss future growth plans for NID. Esther is a practicing artist printmaker who exhibits her work internationally. In her spare time Esther enjoys the peace and quiet of the beautiful far south coast of NSW.
